We all have seen the lock screen for the Android OS (the one where you drag your finger across six dots to create a pattern). Well it has finally come to the iPhone and iPod Touch. This tweak is available in Cydia (jailbroken 3rd party application installer) from the BigBoss repository and is called AndroidLock. I really highly recommend downloading and installing it. So AndroidLock does replace the original “Slide to Unlock” lock screen and the best thing that it adds, though, is the extra security. Watch my video below describing how it works and how to get it. And the best part… it’s FREE!
Disable the addon:
If you’d like to disable the addon without fully uninstalling it, install SBSettings and you can toggle it on/off using the MobileSubstrate options.
FLAWS:
- It overlays almost your whole lock screen wallpaper.
- Cydgets and lock screen gadgets are overlayed above AndroidLock resulting in a permanently locked phone.
- There is no “on/off switch”. Once it’s installed, there’s no way to turn it off other than uninstalling it.
- Once AndroidLock is uninstalled, some people report that the pattern is still on the locks screen.
- AndroidLock lets you try and unlock the device as many times as you want, it doesn’t lock the device for 1 minute after 5 incorrect guesses (like “Slide to Unlock”). – Respringing solves this issue.
