Offcial Twitter App Goes Universal Finally!

Great news, Twitter fans! The official Twitter application, which we’ve known and loved on our iPhone handsets for some time now, has just gone universal. A recent update (version 3.1, which was released today) means iPad owners can now use the app on their 9.7″ iDevices.

And, as you can see from the screenshots below, the familiar app looks markedly different on the iPad. First up, it takes advantage of the iPad’s screen brilliantly. Twitter on the iPad displays your timeline in the center of the screen, adding helpful lists at the side when in landscape mode. By tapping on any tweet, related content will open in the foreground. By sliding panels, you can swiftly navigate through this content.

In addition to this, users can pinch on a tweet to reveal information and further actions. A two finger drag opens up a list of reply options. These new features are simple but very helpful, and we’re sure you’ll really appreciate them.

So, the ultimate question: was Twitter’s universality something worth waiting for? In my opinion, yes, it was. And, let’s not forget this is a free application, so you have no excuse not to download it!

Twitter (for iPhone and iPad) is available now in the App Store for free! Let us know your thoughts on the app in the comments box at the bottom of this article.

Netflix For iPhone

As mentioned at WWDC 2010, Netflix said they would release their iPhone app this summer and everyone kind of forgot about it and they only had it on the iPad. Well today they released an app for the iPhone.

The application works great and the quality is excellent (over WiFi). Here’s a great video that SoldierKnowsBest made regarding Netflix for iPhone:

ProSwitcher, Multifl0w, & Circuitous Alternative for iOS 4 (ALL DEVICES)

Video tutorial below.

As we all know, Apple decided to come out with their own version of multitasking in iOS4. The problem is that it’s not “true” multitasking. In this tutorial, I will explain how to use Apple’s multitasking bar with Backgrounder. This disables Apple’s multitasking and replaces it with Backgrounder’s multitasking.

This is great for older iDevices with 128MB RAM (iPod touch 1G, iPod touch 2G, iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G) because they don’t support Apple’s multitasking but it will still work perfectly using this method.

Steps:

1. Open Cydia and download Backgrounder
2. Open Backgrounder and go to Global. Make sure “Backgrounder” is checked as ‘Backgrounding Method’ and “Fall Back to Native” is TURNED OFF

3. SSH into the directory: /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app
4. Locate the N72AP.plist (or N82AP.plist)
5. Backup the .plist file. Edit your .plist in any text editing software and add the following key after <dict> and before </dict>:

<key>multitasking</key>
<true/>

6. Copy the newly edited .plist file back to the directory on your iDevice (OR save it if you edited it straight from your SSH client) and REBOOT.
7. Open Cydia and download a package, “Remove Recents”.
8. Respring (or reboot if you don’t know how to respring).

Defend Your Universe Review

So basically this app is designed by TheiPhoneFix and he has made a very simple game but the game is very entertaining. What you have to do is “Defend Your Universe.” There are space objects and UFOs coming at you universe and you have to tap them to get rid of them and if you let them hit your universe you lose. The objects keep coming faster and faster so the goal is to see how long you can last. I lasted for 62 seconds. This app is $0.99 and their is an iPhone and an iPad version. TechGeec is currently giving away 3 Phone codes and 23 iPad codes so make sure to enter now!

We Farm Released and Full Review

So at midnight (PST) ngmoco:) relleased it “sequal” to We Rule and the Farmville killer “We Farm.” So lets get into my review.

Farmville has only just appeared on the iPhone, and ngmoco is already testing the waters with their own farming sim, We Farm. If you thought We Rule was the developer’s answer to the Facebook farming phenomenon, you were only half right.

Everything about We Farm should be immediately familiar to We Rule fans; from the plot of land you are originally assigned, to the farms (called gardens) you have to maintain, to the Gro (think Mojo) you have to purchase to speed up various processes, there is little initial difference between the two games.

The differences become more apparent as you play through the tutorial which quickly progresses you to a level 6 farmer. Building a coop allows you to raise chickens (and later ducks and, I assume, other fowl as you progress in the game) which you must pet to keep happy. This latter innovation brings a simple type of Tamagochi pet management to We Farm, but it remains to be seen if this is developed at later levels in the game. I’m currently building some of the other farm areas available during the early stages in the game, so it remains to be seen what other new features We Farm will surprise me with.

The overall presentation of We Farm is, if you can believe it, even more cartoonish and exaggerated than We Rule, and the sound effects and music complement this approach perfectly, with frequent interludes of hayseed, down home banjos and harmonicas. It definitely has its charms, but will fans of We Rule want to build a similar mini-society in a similar way? The two games are very much alike.

We Farm is available on all of your iDevices.

Personally I love We Rule and can not wait to level up on We Farm. If you want to add me email me at conner@techgeec.com and I’ll give you my username so we can be friends. I do not want to give it out here because I really don’t want spammers.
