Interview With Epic Games

Guys I recently emailed the developers of the demo app Epic Citadel that is currently in the iPhone and iPad App Store that demos Epic Games Unreal Engine on the iPhone or iPad. This is the app was also demoed on the September 1st Keynote at Apple HQ.

But anyways I emailed them to ask them when they think when the app would go live in the App Store.

Here is the entire conversation:

Hey guys! This is the Senior Editor for TechGeec.com Conner and I just had a quick question for you. Can you give us any date to when “Project Sword” will be submitted to the App Store?

Apple Releases iOS 4.2 GM (New Features)

Quote (via iEnlive):

Today, Apple finally released the Gold Master (ship to end users) version of iOS 4.2 to developers and have begun soliciting apps built for it, forshadowing a close date of releasing the final update early this month. Apple already has shown us iOS 4.2 for both iPhone and iPad back at their September event, which also had other announcements on 4.1.

Apple posted a message Monday inquirinig that developers should prepare their applications for iOS 4.2, and this sparks interest because of Apple notifiying to get ready for 4,2, as of submitting updates for iOS 4.1 (iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad).

With the liberation of iOS 4.2, the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch will be receiving some great updates which Apple users of all kinds will enjoy. We have no word as to what changes or new features have been implemented into iOS 4.2 – hit us up if you find out after your quick experience.

Also of high importance, iOS 4.2 will also require iTunes 10.1 installed – the beta has been available for quite a bit now (for those wondering), and can be downloaded via the Developer Center on Apple’s side.

UPDATE: New features have been revealed and found in the new version of iOS (4.2)

-new AirPlay icon
-Multitasking bar [now with advanced brightness and volume controls]
-new Mobile Me login interface [allows you to log into MobileMe account settings using an Apple ID + offering a link to create a new/free Apple ID within the window]

Inspire Pro Giveaway

Hey guys! The guys over at Inspire Pro gave us two promo codes for their app giveaway on the site! To enter just follow me on Twitter (@connerowen) and you are automatically entered. I will pick the winner randomly and they will get the code tweeted to them! It’s that simple! Also look at TechGeec.com to see a review of the app it’s self.

Review: Inspire Pro

Inspire Pro (iPad Version) is very well designed and well thought out. You may have also seen it on the top app charts on Apple’s iOS App Store.

Like I said this app is very well designed and well thought out. This app let’s even the worst drawers (like me!) make master pieces.

It gives you various options to chose your brush size, effects, colors, ect. There is a very wide range of all of those making even the most picky drawer be happy.

I know Apple doesn’t allow it but it actually seems like the harder you push your finger on the screen the darker then paint is and vise versa.

Let me know what you think about this app. What you like and what you don’t like.

This app is currently available in the AppStore for $0.99 but the price is just an introductory price and will normally be $7.99 I believe. So get it A.S.A.P.

Pluse Reader Review

I’m going to flat out say it…I Love…David!!! (Just kidding David is our system admin) but really I..Love…Pulse!! It is all around wonderful and amazing. Most people (and myself thought of Pulse as just another rss reader but it’s not) Pulse lets you add websites so there articles are right at your finger tips. It’s easier than rss readers because you don’t have to go searching for the websites individual rss link. I tried to count, I think you can have three pages of websites with 12 websites on each page. It app is very visual as well, each website has its own section and the stories are displayed under each section and you can do you normal iOS moments to scroll let and right through the articles from each website.

All in all this app is very visual and well designed.

There are no other apps that come close to Pulse, it is wonderful!

If you want a copy for your self we are giving away two iPad codes for this app and three iPhone codes for this app as well. See TechGeec.com for more info and how to enter.

Pulse for iPad Giveaway!

If you’ve been following the site since I’ve came aboard my main job was to be in charge of app giveaways (that is not all my job consists of but that is what I love the most :) ) So if you have been following the site, the giveaways that we have are normally not that well know or popular because our website isn’t all well known. But the other day I was looking at pulse because I wanted to buy it (let me give you a quick tip, the apps I want but I don’t want to buy, those are the developers I email first! :) ) and I thought what the (excuse me) he** I’ll email them and see if I will get a response, and to my surprise within an hour I did! Thanks to Cristina Cordova – VP of Business Development at Pulse gave me three codes (one for me to review for the site) and two for you guys! The codes are for iPad only. Once they get more codes for the iPhone version they will email me and I will give those away as well.

So to enter all you have to do is follow me on Twitter @connerowen or Twitter.com/connerowen and I will tweet when the contest is up and I will update this post when the contest it up. Then I will enter all of my followers into random.org and the top two people will get a code for the iPad version of Pulse.

Now don’t complain because there is no end date to the contest. Promo codes only last for four weeks but there’s know telling if I will end the contest tomorrow or in two weeks, so enter A.S.A.P.

Apple TV Jailbreak Released

Quote (via iPhone Dev-Team):

We’re pleased to release PwnageTool 4.1 for Mac OS X (free of charge, blog ads, and donation requests — as always!).  Today’s big new addition to the jailbreak family is AppleTV 2G, which was first shown jailbroken in its release week!

Through a combination of the recently released geohot limera1n exploit , @comex’s recently released pf kernel exploit, and our original pwnage2 exploit, PwnageTool 4.1 works untethered on these devices at firmware 4.1:

  • AppleTV 2G
  • iPad (firmware 3.2.2)
  • iPod touch 4G
  • iPod touch 3G
  • iPhone4
  • iPhone 3GS
  • iPhone 3G

PwnageTool allows you to restore to a custom IPSW file.  For instance, you can restore to a pre-jailbroken firmware while simultaneously maintaining your current baseband (and thus your ultrasn0w carrier unlock).  You can also add whatever packages you want in the “Expert” mode of PwnageTool, if you wish to pre-install Cydia packages.   iPhone 3G users get the additional benefit of selecting their own boot and recovery logos, and features like multitasking and battery charge percentage.

PwnageTool’s main advantage to ramdisk-based methods (limera1n, greenpois0n, redsn0w) is for unlockers — those that need to keep their current baseband and preserve their ultrasn0w unlock.  But in this new age of both bootrom- and userland-based exploits, it’s an excellent platform for continuing the jailbreak through all future firmwares.  More on this later!  In the meantime, please enjoy this free software and please provide any usage feedback in our comment section below.

AppleTV 2G users:  Welcome to the JB family!  Right now, about all you can do is command-line stuff via ssh.  You also have afc2 available, so you can use tools like ifunbox to move files around.  These are the *very* early days of AppleTV 2G jailbreaking, so it’ll take some time for JB app developers to come up with methods to use your AppleTV 2G from the remote, versus the command line.  PS: Your ssh password is “alpine”…please change it when you can :)

Expert mode: By popular demand, the IPSW file selection in Expert mode is now completely manual (doesn’t use Spotlight).  Just pick your IPSW file directly instead of waiting for the Spotlight search to complete.  In Expert mode, the default is to hacktivate (“Activate the iPhone”), so if you have a legit SIM card be sure to deselect that option in Expert mode.

DFU button:  That “DFU” button in PwnageTool is more than it looks like.  It guides you through the DFU process, but then also runs the appropriate exploit to convince your device and iTunes that all is legit.   The DFU button in PwnageTool is not just your average DFU.

PayPal Adds New Check Capture Feature to it’s iPhone App

PayPal just recently updated their iPhone application (PayPal) with the new ability to take pictures of checks and then the app will automatically deposit them directly to your PayPal account.

Most people use PayPal on regular basis and this is a great addition to the PayPal system. Of course the PayPal app for iPhone (iPod or iPad) is totally free so you can download it from App Store or iTunes Store.
