White iPhone 4 May Never Be Released

Apple may have canceled the white iPhone 4 altogether, according to a new report from BGR.

According to a previous source of ours, we have been told that Apple in fact has no plans to release the white model iPhone 4. Our source hypothesizes another “delay” communicated around March leading us into an iPhone 5 release time-frame in June / July. Something interesting is that manufacturing sources our contact has are keeping quiet on the matter, not confirming that this was in fact a manufacturing issue at this point, but that there might be something else going on behind the scenes.

Apple announced yesterday that the device would not be available until spring 2011.

Pluse Reader Review

I’m going to flat out say it…I Love…David!!! (Just kidding David is our system admin) but really I..Love…Pulse!! It is all around wonderful and amazing. Most people (and myself thought of Pulse as just another rss reader but it’s not) Pulse lets you add websites so there articles are right at your finger tips. It’s easier than rss readers because you don’t have to go searching for the websites individual rss link. I tried to count, I think you can have three pages of websites with 12 websites on each page. It app is very visual as well, each website has its own section and the stories are displayed under each section and you can do you normal iOS moments to scroll let and right through the articles from each website.

All in all this app is very visual and well designed.

There are no other apps that come close to Pulse, it is wonderful!

If you want a copy for your self we are giving away two iPad codes for this app and three iPhone codes for this app as well. See TechGeec.com for more info and how to enter.

Making the Move to a Jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch

If you’re a proud iPhone owner, you’ve probably noticed the fact that Apple has a stranglehold over the Applications Store. Apple has the first and last say over the programs that make it into this outlet, and if the Powers that Be decide that your application is a threat to the company, it will simply not be accepted.

For determined iPhone users, however, there is a route around this virtual monopoly. A jailbroken iPhone is capable of running code for programs that don’t originate in the App Store, opening up programming to anyone and everyone who can string together some code. This new development threatens to give computer programmers across the world the ability to develop applications without fear of being rejected by Apple.

Any of the iPhone models can now be jailbroken, including the newest model, the 3GS. A quick search will bring up your options. Choose wisely, of course: look for a program that can be erased to leave no trace, as you should be forewarned that jailbreaking an iPhone automatically voids Apple’s standard warranty.

So what applications can you look forward to enjoying once you’ve become an owner of an unlocked iPhone? Perhaps the most talked about and most downloaded is Fring. This one has AT&T (the only cell phone company licensed to sell and provide service for the iPhone) absolutely terrified, and for good reason. Once downloaded, Fring allows you to run Skype from your iPhone. Why does that have AT&T so freaked? Well, if you can use Skype rather than your cell phone minutes, suddenly your wireless company isn’t pulling in all that revenue from you going over your plan. Another app that falls into this “scare the crap out of AT&T” category is SkySMS, which allows you to send text messages for free. For folks who constantly go over their rationed number of text messages each month, that could be enough of a reason to jailbreak right there.

There are some other cool apps out there for those lucky enough to own a jailbroken iPhone. Take BossPrefs, for instance. This exciting application gives you much more precise control over your iPhone’s preferences, including the ability to customize icons. With that kind of functionality, you can have the coolest jailbroken iPhone on the block in no time at all.

A jailbroken iPhone also gives you the ability to add ringtones and change your phone’s wallpaper, functions that are impossible on units that haven’t been modified.

As competition keeps increasing in the mobile phone sector, you can expect Apple to continue to blacklist more and more applications. Take Google, for example. Now that the G-Men are developing Android, Apple is spooked, and they’re running for cover. That means more and more applications developed by Google are being rejected from the Apps Store. We can only expect this trend to continue. Luckily, with a jailbroken iPhone, you can use any of the applications you want.

Apple TV Jailbreak Released

Quote (via iPhone Dev-Team):

We’re pleased to release PwnageTool 4.1 for Mac OS X (free of charge, blog ads, and donation requests — as always!).  Today’s big new addition to the jailbreak family is AppleTV 2G, which was first shown jailbroken in its release week!

Through a combination of the recently released geohot limera1n exploit , @comex’s recently released pf kernel exploit, and our original pwnage2 exploit, PwnageTool 4.1 works untethered on these devices at firmware 4.1:

  • AppleTV 2G
  • iPad (firmware 3.2.2)
  • iPod touch 4G
  • iPod touch 3G
  • iPhone4
  • iPhone 3GS
  • iPhone 3G

PwnageTool allows you to restore to a custom IPSW file.  For instance, you can restore to a pre-jailbroken firmware while simultaneously maintaining your current baseband (and thus your ultrasn0w carrier unlock).  You can also add whatever packages you want in the “Expert” mode of PwnageTool, if you wish to pre-install Cydia packages.   iPhone 3G users get the additional benefit of selecting their own boot and recovery logos, and features like multitasking and battery charge percentage.

PwnageTool’s main advantage to ramdisk-based methods (limera1n, greenpois0n, redsn0w) is for unlockers — those that need to keep their current baseband and preserve their ultrasn0w unlock.  But in this new age of both bootrom- and userland-based exploits, it’s an excellent platform for continuing the jailbreak through all future firmwares.  More on this later!  In the meantime, please enjoy this free software and please provide any usage feedback in our comment section below.

AppleTV 2G users:  Welcome to the JB family!  Right now, about all you can do is command-line stuff via ssh.  You also have afc2 available, so you can use tools like ifunbox to move files around.  These are the *very* early days of AppleTV 2G jailbreaking, so it’ll take some time for JB app developers to come up with methods to use your AppleTV 2G from the remote, versus the command line.  PS: Your ssh password is “alpine”…please change it when you can :)

Expert mode: By popular demand, the IPSW file selection in Expert mode is now completely manual (doesn’t use Spotlight).  Just pick your IPSW file directly instead of waiting for the Spotlight search to complete.  In Expert mode, the default is to hacktivate (“Activate the iPhone”), so if you have a legit SIM card be sure to deselect that option in Expert mode.

DFU button:  That “DFU” button in PwnageTool is more than it looks like.  It guides you through the DFU process, but then also runs the appropriate exploit to convince your device and iTunes that all is legit.   The DFU button in PwnageTool is not just your average DFU.

  • iPhone Spy Stick – How An iPhone Spy Stick Can Recover Deleted Data

It might have happened in the past, or it’s bound to happen in the future — at some point you will accidentally delete an important text message from your iPhone.   When this happens, and you are franticly looking for a way to retrieve the data from your iPhone, what options do you have?

Are there really any “quick and easy” ways to recover text messages on an iPhone that were accidentally deleted?  The good news is that there is definitely a couple ways to easily retrieve deleted text messages from an iPhone.

    1) IPHONE SPY STICK

An iPhone Spy Stick (www.iphonespystick.com) looks like an ordinary USB drive, but the way an  iPhone Spy Stick Data Recovery Tool works is you simply plug one end of the cables into the iPhone, then the other end into your PC.

Using the included software (of the iPhone Spy Stick), you’ll be able to immediately recover and read deleted text messages , recover deleted photos , call logs, and even GPS locations.

    THE GOOD?

No need to jailbreak the iPhone.
Nothing to install directly on the iPhone.
    Extremely easy to use.
Works “after” the data is deleted versus having to install something before the data is deleted.

    THE BAD?

Requires constant access to the iPhone.
Somewhat expensive considering the cost of option #2

    2)  IPHONE SPY APP

The second option is to get your hands on  iPhone spy app that is often used to catch cheating spouses, monitor teens cell phone use and track employees. Even though this type of software is referred to as “spy” software, it’s fast become a popular way to back up your iPhone logs, thus helping you recover deleted data.

The main reason why this method is becoming a popular choice, is because there is no “syncing” or manual back up tasks to remember to do. Your iPhone data (text messages, call history, etc.) are automatically backed up every single day. This means if you ever  accidentally delete  a text message, and then need to quickly recover it, all you have to do is log onto your account and then in just a few clicks, you’ll have full contents of every message that was either sent or received from your iPhone.

In summary , iPhone spy software is essentially a real time personal back up solution that requires absolutely ZERO work on your part. Everything is done for you.  The ONLY thing you NEED to remember, is that you must install the iPhone spy app software BEFORE any messages that you want to retrieve are deleted.

    THE GOOD?

    Works exactly as advertised.
More affordable than an iPhone Spy Stick.
Entire text message history is retrieved, not just recent ones.
No further access to the iPhone is required once the app is installed.

    THE BAD?

Installation takes time, especially for anyone who isn’t comfortable installing cell phone apps.
You must install spy phone software BEFORE any messages are deleted that you want to retrieve.
Requires a data connection such as 3G or Edge.
Requires that you jailbreak the iPhone.

In summary, if you’ve accidentally deleted an important text, don’t worry because now you know a couple different ways on how to recover deleted text messages from any iPhone.

    Google Goggles Available for iPhone

Back in December Google Goggles was released for Android T-Mobile smartphones. This allowed users to search in Google Maps using a picture they took. It highlights recognized objects and then all you have to do is click on it to find out more information. Google announced today that Goggles is available for the iPhone.

    Quote (via SearchEngineCompany):

Google Mobile’s blog does warn that since “computer vision” is difficult that it’s still a Labs product and that they will continue to work on it to make it work better. Google Mobile App is in the Apple App Store and users need only downloaded the updated version on their iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 devices. Devices must be running iOS 4 or above and Goggles is only enabled for English-speaking users.

CDMA iPhone Will be Ready by Early 2011 [UPDATED]

Please read entire post before reading this update.

When Verizon President and COO, Lowell McAdam, was asked to comment about the report from The Wall Street Journal, McAdam replied,

It’s one of those things that rolls out every few weeks whether there’s a basis for it or not. I can’t give you any insights, but I think Apple is the one that has to make that announcement. What I’ve always said is I expect at some point in time our business interests are going to align. I think things like LTE are another great reason why they’d want a device or tablet on that network. But I don’t have anything to say today about timing.

Despite the remarks, rumors of a CDMA iPhone arriving in early 2011 have persisted.

These rumors of a Verizon iPhone have been coming since it’s debut in 2007 but the “rumors” seem to have more and more “proof” behind them.

On Wednesday, The Wall Street Journal quoted “people briefed by Apple,” as saying the new iPhone,

would be similar in design to the iphone 4 currently sold by AT&T Inc.,

…but it would be using CDMA technology, the same technology both Verizon and Sprint use. They also stated that,

The phone, for which Qualcomm Inc. is providing a key chip, is expected to be released in the first quarter of next year, according to the same people.

Also on Wednesday, Shaw Wu, an analyst for Kaufman Bros., wrote:

in our checks with the industry and supply chain sources, we have picked up indication of development and progress on new form factor iPhones.

Representatives from Verizon, Qualcomm, and Apple all declined to comment on the issue, however, just a few weeks ago, Verizon CEO, Ivan Seidenberg, said no one should expect the iPhone on Verizon any time soon. The one and only reason why this statement would be a lie, is so that Apple’s fourth quarter earning do not drastically drop as people await the release of the new iPhone. This occurred when the iPhone 4 prototype was discovered. Consumers stopped buying the iPhone 3GS and instead waited for the iPhone 4 to be released which in turn drastically dropped Apple’s quarter earnings.

The Journal also stated that Apple,

plans to begin mass producing a new iPhone by the end of 2010 that would allow Verizon Wireless to sell the smart phone early next year, said people briefed by Apple.

Apple is also developing a new iPhone model, said people briefed on the matter. One person familiar with the new iPhone plan said the fifth-generation iPhone will be a different form factor from those that are currently available. It was unclear how soon that version will be available to Verizon.

Another interesting note that many websites overlook, is that Verizon’s CEO, Ivan Seidenberg, is scheduled to give the main keynote at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, 2011, which may very well be where the announcement for the Verizon iPhone occurs.
